Longyou is located in the mid-west of Zhejiang Province, covering a total area of 1143 km2 with a population of 400,4000. It has 6 towns, 7 townships and 2 sub-districts under its jurisdiction. The county features mainly as follows:
Old but modern city: Longyou has a long history. During the Spring and Autumn period, it was Kingdom Gumie. It’s one of the 13 earliest counties established in the history of Zhejiang, which dated back to 2200 years ago. In 1959 its county system was abolished but resumed in 1983. Longyou has accumulated rich culture from its long history. There are more than 100 cultural protection units at national, provincial and municipal level within its boundary. Throughout its history, Longyou has been reputed as a county full of great scholars and talents. The natives of Longyou have long had a strong sense of business. Longyou Chamber of Commerce was one of the national top ten during the Ming and Qing Dynasty, which was the only one named after a county. The reputation of “Longyou lies wherever you go” is a strong evidence for its booming business.
Hinge of 4 provinces: Longyou is an important traffic centre of east and west Zhejiang which joining Jiangxi, Anhui and Fujian provinces . Within its boundary crisscross railways and highways such as Zhejiang-Jiangxi Electrized Railway, No. 320 National Highway, No. 46 and 21 Provincial Highways, Hang-Jin-Qu Expressway, Hang-Xin-Jin Expressway and Long-Li Expressway. It’s the first county in the province to build a traffic ring round a county town. The advantages in traffic and location are turning into the advantages of economic development.
Ecotype Tourism: Longyou has long been reputed as “East, West, Longyou is best”. Longyou Grottoes, well-known as “an age-old mystery” and “world’s ninth wonder”, is one of its famous attractions, which is the first tourist zone at national 4A level in Quzhou area. It is now engaged in applying for the National Treasure Unit and World Cultural Relics. Longyou folk house center which gathers masses of ancient buildings, the beautiful charming Great Bamboo Sea of West Zhejiang and Sanmenyuan Scenic spot in Shifo all displayed its rich resources of nature and human culture.

It is extremely rich in primary products like live pigs, layers, pearls, tea leaves, Huanghua pears and lotus seeds. It’s titled “The Home of Chinese Huanghua Pear”. The reputation of “the Home of Bamboo Shoots of China” arises from its plentiful bamboo resources: nearly 400,000 mu of bamboo forest and a yearly bamboo output of over 60 million pieces.Industrial economy has made rapid development. Based on its industrial park, Longyou has formed some advantageous leading industries: special paper, bamboo shoot processing, hardware machinery, spinning and clothing, chemical industry, the construction material, electron and green food.
